Presenting our Biggest Project Yet….the Kitchen!

We have been working hard to finish the heart of our home: the kitchen 🙂 When we bought our home almost two years ago, we had dated cherry cabinets with gold hardware, a breakfast bar we never used, and appliances that were almost 20 years old.  When our refrigerator went out over Thanksgiving (that was NOT fun) we decided to go ahead and just replace all of the appliances in the kitchen since Lowe’s was having their annual Black Friday sale.  The new appliances really motivated us to get everything else finished, and I am so pleased with the outcome!

Here is a run down of the changes we made:
Paint walls
Paint trim
Paint pantry door
Paint cabinets
Extend cabinets to ceiling
Replace hinges
Replace door knob
Replace cabinet hardware
New light fixtures
New outlets
New switches
New blinds
New appliances
Replace garbage disposal
New countertops
Remove breakfast bar

New faucet
New sink
Add tile backsplash

Add under cabinet lighting

Here are the before pictures of our kitchen when we first moved in:

And here is our kitchen now:

Seeing the before pictures really gives me a sense of satisfaction.  It doesn’t even look like the same kitchen to me.  Everything was painted with Behr paint, which is our favorite paint.  We used a shade called Perfect Taupe for the walls, and the cabinets were painted with a shade called Burnished Clay.  The only thing we haven’t changed are the floors, which will come later 🙂  I can’t wait to have family dinners here and really enjoy our new space.
